Post-Playing Career of Aaron Brooks

Property Development

Following his retirement from pro football in 2007, Aaron Brooks announced plans to go into property development. He began his first project, Burlington Woods, in the summer of 2008. Burlington Woods is an upscale subdivision located on 17 acres in James City County, Virginia. The subdivision will consist of 26 lots that range from 1/4 acre to 1/3 acre in size. The homes will be four to five bedrooms and are expected to be from 2,000 square feet to 4,500 square feet in size. Brooks will oversee the project until its completion, and then Ryan Homes will take over the construction phase.

In addition to Burlington Woods, Brooks also announced plans to invest in the Southeast Commerce Center, a redevelopment project in his hometown of Newport News. The project would involve a mixed-use development in the economically depressed East End area, including 190 townhouses, a grocery store, and retail offerings. The investment aimed to revitalize part of downtown Newport News and address social problems similar to those in New Orleans. The project, while initially delayed, was reported to be back on track after negotiations between Brooks and the city council.

Induction into New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame

In 2014, Aaron Brooks was inducted into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame, along with his former teammate John Carney. The induction was celebrated with special events, including a private party at a local venue in New Orleans. Notable personalities such as Pharrell Williams, Swizz Beatz, Alicia Keys, Michael Vick, and Marcus Vick attended the event, making it a memorable celebration of Brooks’ career.
