Michelle Keegan’s character will be the victim of a sex attack in season two of Brassic.

Series two will see Michelle, who plays strapped-cash mum Erin, become a magician’s assistant, although the plot takes an unexpected turn, creator Joe Gilgun has revealed.

The Our Girl star will be back along with her pals Vinnie, Dylan, Tommo, JJ, Ash and Cardi and ahead of the new season, Joe told how he wanted Michelle’s character to feel ‘girl power’.

‘Often in shows, they are a prop, but I didn’t want it to be about the girls being rivals or holding up another character, the boyfriend, the husband,’ he began.

‘I feel like Michelle’s really had an opportunity on this show to showcase her emotional range. She’s an unbelievable actress and we wanted her to be able to show what she’s made of.’

The sex attack will happen when Erin becomes a high-class escort for a local gangster and she’s unsure whether to report the crime or not.

‘I think a lot of women can feel embarrassed by this awful thing that’s happened to them. In these scenes, we wanted to remind everyone that women have a voice, but men can make them feel unsafe,’ he added to the Daily Mirror.

The series one finale saw the character fake his own death to avoid getting his penis cut off by gangster Terence McCann (Ramon Tikaram).

But in the last moments of the episode, Vinnie got a phone call from Terence asking him how it feels to be dead – meaning someone knows what he’s up to.

Elsewhere Dylan found out that Erin had aborted their child and that her six-year-old son is Vinnie’s. Heartbroken at the revelation, Dylan initially stopped speaking to her until he decided to make up at Vinnie’s ‘wake’.

Only when he found Erin, her college classmate Jake (Anthony Welsh) had got down on one knee outside the pub. What will Erin do?

Brassic series two returns to Sky One on May 7 with episodes also available on Now TV.
